FLORIDA ALFA (FL ALFA) and member community, Serenades by Sonata located in The Villages, Fla., today welcomed 103-year-old Margaret Scarfia into the senior living community as a new resident.

Margaret’s move-in was celebrated with a reception where 103 balloons were released in her honor. In addition to this welcoming party, during Margaret’s move-in, the state-of-the-art equipment at Serenades by Sonata gave her the opportunity to Skype with distant relatives from a smart TV in the community’s living room, as well as view a photo album that family members created by uploading pictures to a Picasa account that Margaret viewed from the comfort of her home.
“The folks at Serenades by Sonata have been wonderful during this transition – to my mother, as well as to our entire family,” said Rosemary Scarfia. “We could not be more pleased with this beautiful, tranquil community, where we are confident that our mother will get the best possible care. We were also thrilled that she was able to Skype with family members on the day of her big move – we know this gave her great joy and comfort as she made this transition.”
