Sonata Senior Living residents received early access to the first approved Covid vaccine, made available through the Pharmacy Partnership for Long Term Care Program. This essential program was created to assure senior living communities were among the first to be offered the opportunity to participate in the vaccination program.

“Our top priority is residents of long-term care facilities,” noted Governor Ron DeSantis. “They are at greatest risk and this vaccine could have a positive impact on them, not just protecting them from COVID, but allowing them to return to a more normal life.”

Sonata Senior Living partnered with both Walgreen’s and CVS to deliver the first doses of COVID vaccine through a series of clinics hosted at its communities throughout Florida in early 2021. Pharmacy professionals from both Walgreen’s and CVS administered the vaccine in full accordance with CDC guidelines. In addition, members of Sonata’s own professional nursing team will continue to work with the pharmacy team to monitor each recipient following vaccination and complete all reporting requirements necessary to assure the success of the program.

A Lifesaving Turning Point in the Fight Against COVID-19

Because our elderly population – both in Florida and nationally – is at significantly higher risk from getting very sick or hospitalized from COVID-19, Sonata encouraged as many residents as possible to enroll in this program. As an additional benefit, both residents and staff received the vaccine at no personal expense.

The vaccine administered at Sonata’s clinics has been shown to provide a great deal of protection against serious illness due to COVID-19. It has successfully passed through testing and clinical trials to ensure that it meets the highest safety standards. It is also safe for those who have already had the virus.

Quite simply, the more of us who choose vaccination, the better we will be able to protect ourselves, our families and our communities from potential outbreaks. Every vaccination helps us all save lives while assuring the quickest path back to a full and normal life.

Vaccination Enrollment Requirements

To receive the vaccine, residents and staff are required to sign a consent form to enroll in the program. While not mandated by the federal government, our long-term care pharmacy partners require the consent form for participation. To ensure access to the vaccine, Sonata Senior Living encourages all who would like to participate to fulfill this simple requirement early. It is also important for residents and their family members to remember that a second vaccine dose will follow the first by 21 to 28 days.

Sonata Senior Living will continue to take all necessary precautions before, during and after the vaccine is administered. This includes wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and ongoing regular testing to ensure the safety of residents and staff.

Sonata Safe Now and Always

Free and accessible vaccinations for residents and staff is a vital part of our signature program, Sonata Safe. Sonata Safe is designed to provide effective assurance that residents are cared for in a safe and healthy environment, no matter what conditions and threats might arise in the outside world.
