ORLANDO, FLORIDA (July 1, 2016) – Sonata Senior Living, a premier provider and operator of senior living communities in Central Florida, announces the promotion of Julie Fernandez to Director of Team Development and Training. In this newly created role, Julie will focus on cultivating organization learning opportunities through employee, family, and community engagement, with an emphasis on the creation of extraordinary care practices. This enhanced training and education curriculum will be offered to all Sonata Senior Living team members and community management and will focus on all aspects of resident care, including dementia care practices and Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach™ to Care.

She has a passion for employee training and a proven ability to develop innovative wellness programs. We are very excited to have Julie in this new role, and are thrilled she will lead our efforts in developing and implementing the next level of extraordinary care practices at each of our Sonata Senior Living communities,” said Shelley Esden, Senior Vice President of Operations.
Julie joined Sonata Senior Living in 2010 as the Executive Director of Serenades by Sonata at Longwood. She is a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer and a Certified Dementia Practitioner through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. In addition, Julie is an approved trainer for Level I and Level II Alzheimer’s/Dementia for the State of Florida and is a certified Teepa Snow Positive Approach™ to Care (PAC) Trainer. Julie has also served on the University of Central Florida’s Gerontology Community Advisory Committee and on the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer’s Dementia Resource Center of Orlando, where she served as Board President for three years.
Julie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Central Florida as well as a degree in Accounting.
