Sonata Senior Living Appoints Rebecca Townsend as Senior Vice President of New Business & Acquisitions

Orlando, FL—August 8, 2023 – Orlando-based Sonata Senior Living is pleased to announce the appointment of Rebecca Townsend as Senior Vice President of New Business and Acquisitions. Townsend will be responsible for the operational oversight and value creation of new Sonata communities, including management turnarounds, new construction, and acquisitions. She will also play a vital role in identifying opportunities on the horizon that are a good fit for Sonata. As a senior member of the executive team, Townsend will report directly to Sonata’s President and CEO, Shelley Esden.

Townsend joins Sonata with over 30 years of operations experience in senior management experience focusing on empathy, accountability, and outcomes. She has contributed to conceptual and new development sales, as well as turnaround and prepositioning product lines including active adult, independent living, assisted living, and memory care. Rebecca has previously held positions as Chief Operating Officer in this vertical, additionally bringing significant expertise in sales and marketing within the technology space.

Townsend started her career as a receptionist in a senior living community in Ormond Beach, Florida, quickly moving through the ranks to Business Office, Executive Director, and Regional Director. She has held various senior and executive level roles throughout her career including Chief Operating Officer, backed by her exceptional expertise in technology and sales operations.

Townsend is engaged in the industry and her passion is helping people and communities achieve their highest and best potential.

Townsend earned her degree from University of North Carolina. She is a past member of ALFA’s President’s Council, Florida Senior Living Association, and Maryland Healthcare Facilities Association.
